REGULATIONS - Drift South Development Series Fun Day

Saturday March 3rd 2018

Mike Pero Motorsport Park - Ruapuna

 

Entry Fees 

Entry Fees are $120 per driver.
Payment is required to reserve your space, payment on the day is not an option.

Bank account for payments: 02 0865 0020166 25. Canterbury Car Club. Please use Drift Fun Day and your name as reference.

Entries are limited to 40 cars, priority to first forms received with payment

Entry fee will be refunded if notification is received before March 3rd 

 

Track - B Track

 


This Day is run in place of the Development Series Competition so it is not a day for battles or driving in close proximity.
There are other days available if battles are what you are after. 

 


No Club membership or race licence is required, however drivers must have sufficient track drift experience (Drift School or approved equivalent)

 

A Competitors briefing will take place before competition starts, to be held under the control tower at a time to be advised. 

It is compulsory for all competitors/drivers to attend. 

 

Driving/Competitor Behaviour

  1. No drifting under any circumstances outside the drift section at any time.
  2. No wheelspin or speeding in pit lane. Circuit’s Pit Lane speed limits to be obeyed.
  3. No burning of tyres after spinning out, you must drive off quickly and safely. Stationary Burnouts are not allowed at any time.
  4. Any person or persons behaving in a manner deemed unsportsmanlike or engaging in acts of aggression as defined by track officials, hosting entity and/or venue staff, may be removed from the premises without refund.
  5. No drifting through a yellow or red flag
  6. When the chequered flag is waved, this means it is the end of that particular session and all vehicles must re-enter the pits, you may drift the remaining lap while obeying all other rules.
  7. The driver is responsible for the actions of his/her crew and failure to do so may result in removal from this event.
  8. Never at any time for the duration of the event is there to be smoking or consumption of alcohol in the pits, by competitors, their crew or associates.
  9. Any driver not obeying these or other rules may be removed from the track or park.

  

Vehicle Requirements

  1. While this is not a Motorsport NZ permitted event, all vehicles must still comply with the regulations in Schedule A & DR in the current NZ Motorsport Manual. Click link for rules, please ask before the day if unsure of vehicle requirements.
  2. Both front and rear bumpers of competing vehicles must remain on the vehicles for the duration of the event. In the case where the bumper comes off it must be repaired and reinstalled onto the vehicle before returning to the track unless damaged beyond repair.
    **Where an easily detachable retention system is used (i.e. cable ties), the panel must be attached in a minimum of 4 places.

 

Postponement, Cancellation, Abandonment and Organisers Rights

The organisers reserve the right to cancel or abandon the Event or part thereof at their discretion. 

 

Safety

The carrying of passengers is only permitted in vehicles audited to comply with Appendix Five - Schedule C – Article 6 of the Motorsport NZ Manual.

Passengers must sign the entire Passenger Declaration form every time they go on track.

In the case of a collision, vehicle malfunction, or other reasons causing an inability to move the car while on course, the driver is asked to wait in the car with seatbelts and helmet worn until directed or assisted by a course marshal (exception to this rule will be any pending or visible fire or chemical hazards that threaten the driver, then the driver is advised to leave the vehicle and proceed to a safe area away from the track).

In the event of an engine fire, it is up to the driver to open the bonnet - upon the fire marshal’s request. The driver/competitor should be dressed in full fireproof attire

Protective clothing must be worn in accordance with Schedule A & DR.

Gloves, Race Boots, Balaclavas and Neck Braces are not compulsory but highly recommended.

 

Flags:   Drivers are reminded to be aware of the meanings of waved flags as described in Schedule DR of the Motorsport Manual
Green Flag: waved means the track is clear and you may commence drifting after you pass that flag point.
Yellow Flag: waved means there is a hazard on or beside the track; slow down and maintain control of current drift and do not initiate another drift until the incident is passed and the track is visibly clear to the next designated flag point displaying a waved green flag.
Black Flag: The Competitor shall stop drifting immediately and return to the pit and report to the Clerk of the Course or their representative.
Red Flag: All Competitors must immediately cease drifting, slow down ensuring following vehicles can slow in the space available, and proceed with maximum caution to the pit / dummy grid and/or obey official’s instructions.

 

Scrutineering/Audit:           

All cars will be given an inspection to ensure they are are safe to be on track, time TBA.
However it is the driver's responsibility to ensure the car meets the requirements of Schedule A and Schedule DR from the latest Motorsport NZ Manual.

No vehicle will access the track until they have had this inspection.
Please note, if you intend to take passengers you must ask the scrutineers to check the vehicle is OK to take passengers and you will be given a 2nd sticker to show this check has taken place.

NO cars will be allowed to enter the event if they have an out-of-service order (green or pink sticker) affixed to the vehicle.



Noise Levels

Cars may not exceed the maximum authorised noise level of 95 dB (A) (measured at 30m from the track edge) at any time during the event, this will be strictly enforced.
Vehicles exceeding this will be given one warning and may be excluded from the event at the discretion of the Clerk of Course if the limit is exceeded again.
There is no right of protest in relation to noise levels.


Vehicle Towing
            

The organising club or the tow operator(s) will accept no responsibility for any damage caused to any car during the recovery or relocation operation at the event.
It is the car owner’s responsibility to provide some means of towing at both front and rear of the car. In the event a car cannot be removed from the circuit in a timely manner, then at the discretion of the CotC or Event Organisers it may be deemed necessary to tow it to a safe place on the circuit and not return it to the pits

Variations of the "B Track" section of the circuit will be used throughout the day

 

Open Sessions

There will be grouped sessions throughout the day.

Cars will be grouped by skill level and separated on track to ensure sufficient gaps between cars.


Competitions

Selected mini competitions will be run during the day, schedule to be informed on the day.
